Hackpack: the Right Bag for the Job

Creating the right personal backpack for your computer stuff might seem overwhelming sometimes with all the bits that exist out there. What do you need and what do you want?

Find the right Bag

Start off by finding options that can fit all the equiment you need, and which also lets you organize it easily by having different compartments. Do not forget that the things you are going to use the most should be stored in places you can access easily and quickly. Also think about modularity of the bag itself: Do you want to have pouches that you can add or remove depending on the use?
Do not forget the comfort, especially when it is fully packed. We do not want your back to be ruined after 10 minutes.

Another factor that determines the suitability of a bag is the enviroment it is going to be used in. Do you need much protection from impacts? Does it need to be protected from water (e.g. rain)?

Even though all of the above is important, the most important thing is to make sure that you like it.

Assemble the Core Equipment

There are a lot of things that could go into the bag. Lets start with the basics:

  • Laptop
  • Charging cable
  • Adapters, if needed
  • USB sticks for saving or transferring data
  • Earphones
  • Notebook
  • Pens
  • Plastic bag for trash, water protection, extra carrying space. Be creative.

Add the Extra Equipment

This is where possibilities are endless. Here are some examples of things that you could add:

  • Live USB
  • Network Cable
  • Tools for computer repairs
  • Homemade RubberDucky
  • Wipes to clean displays or glasses
  • Tissues
  • Drinking bottle
